President John Dramani Mahama is expected to be part of a delegation of West African leaders to visit The Gambia on Tuesday, December 12.
The leaders are expected to talk President Yahya Jammeh out of his latest stance on the December 1 elections.
President Jammeh had lost the elections to Adama Barrow. But days after conceding defeat, he rejected the results and called for a rerun of the polls.
He has decided to take the matter to the country’s Supreme Court.
The call has, however, been rejected by President-elect Barrow, who has called on the 22-year serving leader to step down immediately.
But Ecowas Chair Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, John Dramani Mahama of Ghana as well as Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA), will travel to Banjul for the talks.
Members of the delegation are expected to return to their respective countries later on Tuesday.
