The police has explained that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Circuit Court presiding judge was not harmed in Thursday’s confusion masterminded by the Delta Force, a vigilante group affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement issued and signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, the police said: “in the course of the confusion the presiding judge was not harmed as being speculated by some media and that she was under Police protection.”
According to the police, the 13 accused persons who were arraigned before the KMA Circuit Court presided over by Mary Nsenkyire and had been remanded into custody for two weeks but escaped after pandemonium broke out at the court had reported themselves to the police and are currently in police custody.
“The Regional Police Command once again wishes to assure the general public that, the service shall continue to ensure law and order within the region. Any act of lawlessness shall not be countenanced and anyone who flouts the law will be dealt with as prescribed by law.
