A president aspirant, who is seeking stand in the 2016 elections as an independent candidate, has proposed the election of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) should he emerge the winner of the December elections.
Chief Dr Yao Kumey said “the police will vote to elect the IGP not political appointment because political appointment breeds corruption”.
The aspiring presidential candidate was speaking on Onua FM’s election programme Kokromoti hosted by Bright Asempa Wednesday.
“This will make the IGP accountable to the people of Ghana and not the government of the day,” the business man-cum-politician added.
Chief Dr Kumey said: “I will build houses for the police under my presidency and their children will also go to school for free”.
He added: “We need to make sure the police live better in order for them to protect the nation”.
He said the “Electoral Commission (EC) must extend the time of the filing of the nominations. I will file on Friday but the amount is too much”.
Chief Dr. Kumay said the “NPP and NDC have disappointed the people. They have nothing to offer for Ghanaians” so Ghanaians should desist from voting for them.
He added that “the NPP owes and so when they come to power, they are going to pay their debts before thinking of Ghana. NDC is even worse if we vote for them because they are going to loot Ghana more”.
