President John Mahama on Sunday rode a power bike across town. Pictures and a video of the act are trending on social media. One photo shows the President being helped to wear a helmet, while another shows him appearing to turn on the ignition of the bike. A video posted on Facebook appeared to show President Mahama eventually riding the bike out of what is thought to be his private residence. A government communicator said the ride had been for the president to assess the impact of the rain that fell on Sunday afternoon. It is not surprising that the president can ride a motor bike, as he hails from Bole-Bamboi in the Northern Region. Motor cycles are a popular means of transportation in the northern regions of Ghana, and are owned by a lot of people, including women.
