President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to live up to the promises he made to the people of Ghana during the 2016 electioneering.
He said he was aware of the high expectations of Ghanaians from his administration after he had taken over the reins of government and stated that he had started implementing the things he pledged and asked for the support and prayers of the people.
Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing the congregation at the St Cyprian’s Anglican Church at Asafo in Kumasi last Sunday.
He was taken to the altar where he was prayed for by both the clergy and the congregation as part of the second and final day of his tour of the Ashanti Region.
He explained that he always felt the blessing of God on his life and added that on Saturday, Otumfuo Osei Tutu had organised a party in commemoration of his (President’s) 73rd birthday, coupled with prayers said for him by some Christian leaders.
He stated that his administration was working to ensure that the economy was put on a sound footing to ensure that every Ghanaian benefited.
He gave an offering of GH¢5,000 to the church.
At the Bantama Ebenezer Methodist Church, the President commended the Resident Minister for calling on all Ghanaians to join forces in working for the country and put a stop to negative attitudes and unpatriotic deeds that tended to affect the progress of the country.
Sermon
Preaching the sermon, the Resident Minister, Rt Rev. Charles Aaron Ekuban, said nobody would be able to change Ghana for the better unless every citizen rolled up his or her sleeves and worked assiduously to realise the Ghana all yearned for.
He noted that if Ghanaians refrained from corrupt activities, petty thievery and indiscipline and think big like President Akufo-Addo, the country would attain great heights in its quest to develop the economy and facilitate social progress.
“I am asking that if you stop stealing, if you stop corruption, if you begin to think big, I believe the desired peace and economic prosperity we all want will come,” he stated, adding that when God said “son of man, prophesy”, all He meant was that He had given the power to solve the problems of this world to man.
President’s audacity
Rt Rev. Ekuban added that the Almighty God had placed in the human being the ability and capability to explore and reach great potential, as well as change the things they believed needed to be reformed.
He said the President had searched for the potential God had placed in him and that had made him to have the audacity to think big for Ghana, hence his very big policies and programmes.
