President Nana Akufo-Addo has commended former President John Mahama for ensuring a peaceful election and transition process.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving service held at the Ridge Church , President Akufo Addo said the former President’s conduct during the election is a credit to Ghana.
“Our thanks for this occasion must also go to my predecessor who followed in the worthy footsteps of his illustrious predecessor. The President Jerry John Rawlings and the President John Agyekum Kufuor and supervised a peaceful transition of power. Despite all the controversies surrounding his settlement, his conduct has been a credit to our nation and we must all give thanks to the Lord for it,” Nana Addo said.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia attended the service at the Ridge Church in Accra on Sunday.
Other dignitaries present at the service were Second lady, Samira Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye, Finance Minister-nominee Ken Ofori-Atta and Senior minister nominee, Yaw Osafo Maafo.
Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Prof. Cephas Omenyo while delivering a sermon in honour of the President at the service, called for implementation of policies that will reorient the attitude of Ghanaians.
Rev Prof Omenyo noted that the President’s vision of transforming the country will not see the light of day if deliberate measures are not taken to change the attitude of Ghanaians to make them responsible citizens.
