The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has disclosed it is targeting 65 per cent of votes in the Volta Region in the December polls.
The party, which is yet to know if its flag bearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom will be passed by the Electoral Commission to contest in the election following his disqualification, said its hard work, coupled with Dr Nduom’s job creation credentials, puts it in pole position to clinch the region, which is the governing National Democratic Congress’ stronghold.
Speaking to Class News’ Ekow Annan, a member of the party’s campaign team and South Dayi constituency Chairman, Emmanuel Vuafotor Azagidi, was confident Voltarians would vote massively for the PPP.
“A dog that barks will never bite, so if you see Voltarians trooping in for NDC, trooping in for NPP, it means they just want to welcome them. That is how Voltarians are, they welcome you but they have their decision in their heads,” he stated.
According to him, the crowd that follows the NDC during its campaigns in the region means nothing.
“If you see a crowd don’t think those people are really voters for that particular candidate,” he stated
Asked how many votes they were targeting, Mr Azagidi said: “We are taking 65 per cent. I do go round all the regions following the messages of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom and I’m very sure that we will get our 65 per cent. We can achieve it.”
