Police To Boost Security At Akufo-Addo’s House

The Ghana Police Service has unveiled its plans to boost security at the residence of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo before and during the November 7 general election.

This package forms part of security arrangements being put in place to ensure the safety of the NPP leader and his household.

Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur revealed this to Adom News Sunday.

This was after some persons alleged to be supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) pelted stones and broken bottles into the house causing some damage.

Supporters undertaking a walk, allegedly veered off to Mr. Akufo-Addo’s Nima residence and tried to enter the house but met resistance from security men.

Police officers from the Nima police station which is a block away from the residence of the opposition politician intervened to ward off the attack.

But Superintendent Cephas Arthur said though Nana Akufo-Addo already has security detail, some will be stationed at his Nima residence to prevent any attacks.

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP TY Bonga said they have begun investigations into Sunday’s clashes.

He indicated that, they are liaising with the security personnel at the home of the NPP leader for thorough investigations.

“It is alleged they threw stones into the home so we want to have access so we can begin the investigations.

As an immediate measure, the Police Commander they are working to restore calm to avert any reprisal attacks.

ACP TY Bonga who described the attack as criminal added that the police will not allow any individual or group of people to undermine the peace of Ghana.
