A vehicle loaded with cutlasses which was intercepted by the Daboase Police in the Western Region on suspicion of being transported to foment trouble in the December 7 elections has been released.
Some constituents who spotted the vehicle around 2:00am Wednesday ahead of the opening of polls in the Wassa East Constituency, raised alarm leading to the interception of the vehicle.
According to the constituents, there were four occupants in the car, which they claimed belongs to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Isaac Adjei Mensah.
Chief Inspector Eyison of the Daboase Police confirmed the interception of the vehicle but ruled out suspicions that the cutlasses were being transported to foment trouble in the ongoing December 7 presidential and parliamentary election.
He told Connect 97.1FM in Takoradi that the four occupants claimed the cutlasses were being shared to some electorate who are farmers, but declined to reveal the political party involved.
The Police, he said, has since released the vehicle and its content.
