Men suspected to be members of the Invisible Forces
The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five persons who attempted to stop toll operations in the Central Business District and Makola Market in Accra on Thursday.
The arrested men suspected to be members of the Invisible Forces – an appendage of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) – are said to have prevented revenue collectors of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) from discharging their duties and took away GH¢2,000.
“The persons who have been arrested shall be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law without delay,” Accra Regional Commander ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga told journalists on Thursday, January 12. The five, who are all scrap dealers, are 25-year-old Musah Muhip, Issahaku Sulemana,32, and Abdulai Mohammed, 41.
The rest are Adam Mahama, 39, and 32-year-old Suleman Issahaku. Separately, the Nima Divisional Police Command has also granted bail to three persons arrested on Wednesday for taking over three toilet facilities within Mamobi.
