A team police and military personnel have taken over the offices of the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority in the Northern regional capital where a group of people claiming to be New Patriotic Party members, have locked up the place.
The about 50 people, who are from 15 NPP groups, are protesting against what they termed as the “non performance” of the Authority, which has been criticised over the years over allegations of misappropriation of public funds.
The main gate to the SADA office premises as well as the about 14 offices of the Authority were locked by the unarmed men.
Except the Human Resource office which was broken into, all other offices and properties of the Authority were intact, TV3’s Zakaria Abdul-Kadiri reported. Vehicles, documents, motorbikes and other properties were not touched.
“They (staff) have all left now, nobody has been harmed. Everything is intact at the office. They are here to protest not to cause any harm,” our correspondent said, adding the group have handed over the keys to the offices they locked to the Police.
According to our correspondent, the group members are still on the premises of SADA but no one has been arrested by the Police for the incident which happened at about 10:45am Monday.
