The Eastern Regional Police command is on a manhunt for the driver and owner of a Lexus salon car, which was involved in a crash on Sunday.
The accident occurred at Teye Kwame on the Asutare Kpong road, around 5:00pm, when the driver of the Lexus collided head-on with a Toyota corolla, after a failed attempt to overtake another vehicle.
In a Citi News interview with the Eastern Regional Police PRO, ASP Yaw Nketiah Yeboah, he said ” the driver of the Lexus tried to overtake another vehicle and in the process crashed with the Toyota corolla which caused the death of the 6 people”.
He added, “the driver of the Lexus somehow abandoned the car and managed to escape.”
The driver of the Toyota corolla, Francis Adufu, Precious Tanoh Nhyira Tanoh, 2-month-old, Sandra Afua, Seth Badu, and Agnes Badu, who were in the Toyota corolla, died on the spot.
Two Survivors, an adult female, Monica Adu Afful, aged 37 years, and Michael Danso, 4 years, are in critical condition at the Akuse Government Hospital where they are being treated.
ASP Yaw Nketiah Yeboah said the bodies have been deposited at the Akuse Government Hospital morgue.
He mentioned that”later on in the evening, the police received reports that the Lexus was being towed by some people; but when the police reached the scene, there was nobody there; so we have managed to tow the car to the Akuse Police station.”
The Regional Police command thus informed the general public to assist the police with information on the owner of the Lexus vehicle.
They have adviced the driver and the owner to report themselves to the police.
