The Ghana Police Service says some major roads in the Accra metropolis would be closed to traffic for the inauguration of president-elect Nana Akufo Addo on Saturday January 7, 2016 from 4am.
According to the police service unapproved vehicles or cars without the appropriate coloured stickers would not be allowed through the check points adding that the roads would be opened to traffic after the inauguration ceremony.
Parking Arrangements
The following areas have been earmarked for parking at the event. They include
*Forecourt of the State House
*International Conference Center
* Intercontinental Bank car park
*The Accra Sports Stadium car park
*Ministries area
*Afua Sutherland Childrens park
*National Theater
*Accra Hearts of Oak park
The Police service in a statement indicated that only vehicles with the following assigned stickers would be allowed through police check points…
*Holders of RED car Stickers would access their parking area through the Marine Drive
*Holders of BLUE and GREEN car stickers would access parking at the back of the East and West Pavilions.
*Holders of YELLOW car stickers would park at the Accra Sports Stadium and
*Holders of BLACK car stickers will park at Afua Sutherland Childrens park.
Several dignitaries are expected from across the continent and from beyond to grace the swearing of Ghana’s fifth president under the Fourth Republic, Nana Akufo Addo.
So far about eleven (11) presidents have confirmed their participation with Alassana Ouattara, the Ivorian President being the Guest of Honour.
