The Asikuma Odoben-Abrakwa District Police Command has commenced investigations into the death of six pupils of the Breman Jamra Methodist Kindergarten School.
The death, which shocked the entire community, left family members and loved ones reeling in pain.
The six pupils were confirmed dead after their dilapidated classroom block collapsed Tuesday Morning.
Three other pupils are who are in critical conditions are receiving treatment at the Our Lady of Grace government hospital.
The Asikuma Odoben-Abrakwa District Police Commander, Superintendent Emmanuel Odonkor said early observations indicated that the building was heavily eroded.
“The wall was not all that strong because, due to erosion, you could see that the underside of the wall had been seriously affected by erosion during previous rains.”
The Breman Asikuma District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, (CHRAJ) Samuel Donkor spoke to Citi News in the aftermath of the building collapse and he hinted that CHRAJ may help the parents of the deceased and injured pupils to get some compensation from government.
“I left a message with the head teacher that if the parents come, they should tell them to come to the CHRAJ office so we assist them as to how they will get some compensation from the government,” he said.
