There is heavy police presence at the Abelempke branch of Marwako Fast Foods in Accra following a clash between residents and workers of the fast food on Wednesday, March 8.
Details of the story are not clear but claims made by some residents indicate that workers of Marwako were mobilising to embark on a demonstration to protest against the treatment meted out to Jihaad Chaabn, their supervisor who abused a female kitchen staff.
According to the workers, their supervisor is innocent of the charges against him and that the victim, Evelyn Boakye, had made up all the allegations to extort money from the suspect.
However, the loud noise by the staff amidst singing and tying of red armbands attracted residents of the area who were riled by the actions of these workers against their colleague, nearly resulting in a brawl.
It is recalled that Jihad Chaaban, a Lebanese supervisor at Abelenkpe branch of Marwako Fast Food allegedly dipped the face of Evelyn Boakye, a Ghanaian kitchen staffer, into a paste of pepper for being slow and fidgeting with a blender.
Chabaan who is facing three counts of offensive conduct, assault, and causing harm was remanded into police custody by the Abeka District Court presided over by Mrs Victoria Akua Ghansah to reapear on March 16, 2017.
