The driver of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) vehicle that hit and killed three people has been arrested by the police.
The driver, Dauda Abdul Saminu, 35 escaped from the scene when he rammed into a motor cycle carrying three people at Salaga in the Northern region.
The driver of the vehicle was touring the township after he had delivered chairs at Bundai where the party is holding a mini-rally as part of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom’s tour to the Northern Region when the accident occurred.
Three persons died on the spot when a PPP pickup vehicle with registration number, GT 2926 – 12 had ran into a group of four persons at a spot near Salaga in the Northern Region.
The three – two males and a female – and a fourth person believed to be a seven-month old baby, according to a local reporter, Christopher Amoako was badly wounded and is on admission at the Salaga Government Hospital.
The nomadic herders were moving in the opposite direction from Bundai to Salaga when they met their untimely death.
The Salaga Police Commander, DSP Kofi Amenu disclosed this to Adom News Tuesday.
He said the driver is currently in police custody assisting in investigation and the baby is responding to treatment.
“The driver reported himself to the police alleging that the accident was caused by his steering wheel” he added.
DSP Amenu revealed that, they will refer the docket of the case to the office of the Attorney General for advice.
