Major streets in the Kumasi Metropolis are virtually empty as Asanteman prepares to bury the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II.
Manhyia as part of the burial ceremony of the Asantehemaa issued a dierective to the citizens to close shops and halt all business activities on Thursday, as they prepare to send home the late Queenmother.
Most banks are closed, streets hawkers are absent, preachers are absent and most transport operators have halted their operations with few vehicles doing business.
Citizens are therefore expected to remain indoors from 7pm until 4am, Friday as the mortal remains of the late Asantehemaa is conveyed from the Manhyia palace to the final burial place, Bremang Mausoleum.
