Patients Friend Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has organised a free health screening exercise for pupils of Precious Gift International School at Awoshie in Accra.
The screening exercise, which forms part of the NGO’s corporate social responsibility of ensuring health for all, especially pupils, witnessed over 249 boys between the ages of 8 -16 undergo medical screening in dental, ear, nose and throat. 15 teachers were also screened.
The students were also given free blood tonic syrups aimed at improving cleansing and improving proper blood circulation.
For his part, Founder of PFF, Mr. Benjamin Ansah, appealed to government to take issues bothering on health of children very seriously.
He said with the growing number of child related cases being recorded at major hospitals, there was the need for government to pay much attention and invest child health.
According to him, most of the cases reported had patients were much centred on the ear because some of the children after screening found out that some of their ears were not functioning properly. The eye is another challenge, he claimed, they encountered.
With support from local drug manufacturers, Ayrton Drugs, he further made a passionate appeal to other organisations to come on board and support this laudable initiative “because most children in the country need help.
