Passengers within the Tamale metropolis are stranded as buses to take them to other towns within the Northern Region are said to have been hired by a mass group believed to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to Accra for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s investiture on Saturday.
Checks made by 3news.com’s Zakaria Abdul-Kadiri at the capital’s Metro Mass Transit depot and the Tamale Jubilee Park revealed that many buses are getting ready to transport the mass group to Accra.
Some buses have already set off, Zakaria Abdul-Kadiri says, as passengers on board claim they cannot wait to witness the inauguration of the country’s Fifth President of the Fourth Republic.
The inauguration is scheduled to be held at the Black Star Square in Accra.
Ghanaians from far and wide are expected to be seated by 8:00am for the ceremony while invited personalities are expected to be seated by 8:30am for the event.
They will be followed by members of the diplomatic corps at 9:00am, in time for Members of Parliament in whose presence the president-elect will be sworn in.
Former presidents will be expected in by 9:25am and then the invited heads of state expected five minutes later.
Between that time and 10:00am, when proceedings start, the Chief Justice and justices of the Supreme Court will take their seats at the venue, which will be a make-shift chamber of Parliament.
