Ghana’s Parliament will from Monday begin registering newly elected members in readiness for the next parliament which will be inaugurated on January 7, 2017.
The members will be issued with identification cards which will enable them to vote for the selection of a Speaker and other officials for the 7th Parliament under the fourth republic ahead of the inauguration of the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on January 7, 2017.
“All honourable Members-elect are therefore requested to note the following to enable a smooth and accurate recording of their data,” a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo said.
The registration is scheduled between December 19 and 23 between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm at the New Administration Block [Committee Rooms one and two] Members who may wish to register online should visit the parliamentary website, www.parliament.gh and follow the link, the statement said.
“Once satisfied with the accuracy of the information, the forms are to be printed out and the member’s signature appended to finally complete the process,” the statement added.
