The five-member ad-hoc committee set up by Parliament to investigate the bribery allegation by Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga against the Appointments Committee says it is not yet done with its works despite the elapse of the period.
The committee says it is on it even though the ultimatum given to the five members has elapse.
The committee was set up following a petition by Mr Ayariga, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP for North Tongu) and Alhassan Sayibu Suhunyini (MP for Tamale North) to the Speaker of Parliament requesting thorough investigations into the bribery allegation.
Chaired by a former Attorney-General and MP for Essikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey, the committee had 30 days within which to present its report.
The 30-day period elapsed at the end of February yet the committee is quiet while Ghanaians seems to have forgotten.
Speaking in an interview with Onua News, a Member of the Committee, Ben Abdallah Banda said “we are considering certain things”.
The Offinso South MP said “we shall submit the report to the Speaker the moment we are done”.
The other members are MPs Ama Pomaah Boateng (Juabeng), Magnus Kofi Amoateng (Yilo Krobo) and Benson Tongo Baba (Talensi).
Mr Ayariga on Friday 27th January, 2017 alleged that the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, tried to influence some members of the Appointments Committee to approve his nomination.
His allegation was, however, refuted by the Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, whom he (Mahama Ayariga) claimed gave each minority MP on the committee GH¢3,000 on behalf of the Energy Minister.
