Ahead of the December 7 elections, the northern regional police command says it will deploy 3,137security personnel across the region, after identifying some 220 electoral flashpoints in the region.
Regional police commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah says his command is adequately prepared to ensure peaceful elections. The electoral commission identified 81 possibly election violent constituencies, ahead of the December polls.
The regional police command after a detailed research said it has mapped out a plan for the December polls where a total of 3,137security personnel would be deployed across 2,688 polling stations. Two security personnel will be assigned to each hot spot.
The command is currently inputting personnel into their database ahead the elections. DCOP Ken Yeboah says the region has not recorded any election related violence so far and is sure of maintaining peace and stability during and after the elections.
He is worried about the curfew hours imposed on some areas within the region which are yet to be reviewed barely a month to the December polls. “The situation may impede operations on voting day” he said.
DCOP Ken Yeboah assure his command in collaboration with other security services are closely monitoring curfew areas to ensure peace and stability before, during and after the elections.
