Students of Kumasi Academy protested over reported death of two of their colleagues
Police have been deployed to Kumasi Academy as anxious parents besiege the main gate of the school in a bid to take their wards home.
It follows reports of alleged mysterious deaths of some students to have died from suspected food poisoning.
Students of Kumasi Academy went on a rampage Friday night and vandalized school property, including two buses.
They were protesting reported death of two of their colleagues from suspected food poisoning a few weeks ago.
Police were deployed to restrain hundreds of anxious parents who besieged the main gate of the school in a bid to take their wards home.
Some the rampaging student, mostly in the second year suffered from fatigue during the commotion and had to be rushed to hospital.
They returned to the school after being treated and discharged while a few others were allowed to go home with their parents.
Police managed to clam the nerves of other parents to restore order on campus.
School authorities were unavailable for comment amid wild and conflicting accounts by students who had insisted on going home.

Meanwhile, Assistant headmaster of the school, Ernest Wiafe speaking to Adom News urged the parents to calm down.
