The sacked executives of the National Democratic Congress at Lawra in the Upper West Region have described as baseless and lies, the claim that they contributed to the poor performance of the party in the constituency in 2016 general elections.
Four of the executives, Secretary, Deputy Youth Organiser, Women’s Organiser and Director of Communication, were dismissed for allegedly contributing to the defeat of the party’s parliamentary candidate in the election, Bede Ziedeng.
According to the Constituency Chairman of the party, Joshua Lotaa, the four executives supported the dismissed former MP of the area, Sampson Abu, who contested as independent candidate.
But speaking with on 3FM, one of the sacked executives who doubles as the constituency secretary, Philip Bagyo, noted that the basis for the dismissal of the four executives are unfounded.
“A party that has just gone into opposition these are not decisions we should be taking at this material moment. We should be thinking of rebuilding the party, personally I have been affected and some allegation have come up against me which are preposterous and palpable lies, they are untruth and unfounded” he explained.
He added that the affected executives will pursue the matter to the letter at the national level.
“That is a decision some group of executives within the Lawra constituency have taken and don’t think that is a decision of the national executives that will not have been the decision by the regional executives, so I have drawn the attention of the regional executives to it and they have assured me they will go into it”.
