Flag bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has accused Nana Akufo-Addo’s nephew, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, of bribing APC’s dismissed General Secretary Razak Opoku and the party’s dismissed vice presidential candidate Emmanuel Carl Bartel, with GHC15,000 to endorse the New Patriotic Party’s flag bearer ahead of the 7 December polls.
Mr Opoku and Mr Bartels broke ranks with Mr Ayariga and endorsed Mr Akufo-Addo’s bid for presidency on Sunday.
Mr Opoku has alleged the president is the financier of the APC and also revealed that APC stole portions of the NPP’s manifesto.
Mr Ayariga, on the other hand has alleged that the sacked duo were “greedy” people who secretly approached the leadership of the NPP to negotiate with them for money in exchange for their endorsement of Mr Akufo-Addo.
“After a week to election, you go and sell your party for GHS15,000. Are you kidding me? Look at the millions of dollars I have spent and you go and negotiate with NPP and take GHS15,000 to sell APC and Ayariga. … They gave them GHS15,000…but the money was given out by Gabby Otchere-Darko. Gabby Otchere-Darko handed the money out to them…” he told Prince Minkah on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class 91.3FM on Tuesday, 29 November.
Mr Ayariga disclosed that: “The party is not taking anything from any political party to endorse their leader. The party wants power sharing and that is all the party is asking for so that if you win power some APC members can become Ministers, Deputy Ministers, DCEs so that we can build and develop our nation. This is what APC is looking for”. “We have money. What are we using money for?” he quizzed.
