Abraham Osei Bonsu says he is unhappy with the judges’ scorecards in his split decision defeat to Wahab Oluwasuen at the ‘Azumah Nelson Fight Night’ on Saturday.
Bonsu challenged Oluwasuen for his National Super Featherweight belt at the Bukom Boxing Arena, but he lost via a split decision. Two judges scored it 116-112, 115-114 for Oluwasuen, while one judge had it 114-115 for Bonsu.
Oluwasuen dropped twice during the bout in the fifth and the seventh round, but the diminutive hard puncher was the proved too aggressive boxer after a series of powerful punches on Bonsu.
“The result is not a true reflection of what happened, I dominated Wahab Oluwasuen and I should have been declared a winner, “Bonsu remarked after bout
“He scored two knockdowns against me but I won more than 9 rounds out of the 12 rounds, so what why would two judges score the fight against me?, I’m unhappy with the decision. For me I won the fight and the worst case should have been a draw. “He added
“I know I was fighting the champion and that is why I put in a lot of work, I staggered him more than four times which in most occasions he was saved by the bell, so the result is not a true reflection of what happened.”
