Campaign Coordinator of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo can never win any elections in Ghana.
According to Kofi Adams, Ghanaians will not entrust the future of this country on “someone who is a threat to peace”.
He made the comment while reacting to opinion polls and surveys conducted by various bodies predicting a landslide victory for the NPP.
Key among them is the London-based Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) which has for the second time predicted a win for the NPP in the December 7 general elections.
This is not the first time the Unit is predicting the outcome of elections in the country.
In February 2012, the unit predicted a win for the late President Prof. John Evans Mills who died in July of the same year.
When the late President was succeeded by John Mahama, EIU again predicted that President John Mahama was going to win the presidential elections in later that year, a forecast that was upheld.
But Kofi Adams on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, cast doubt on the EIU prediction for Akufo-Addo.
He indicated that, the three-time presidential candidate can only be declared president by polls and survey and not by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Kofi Adams who is also the National Organizer of the NDC maintained that, the NPP leader is not competent to manage the high office of the land due to his “violent nature”.
“Akufo-Addo is only a survey president; he is a warmonger so Ghanaians will not put the future of the country into his hand” he stated.
In a rebuttal, NPP Director of Communication said the comments by Kofi Adams ‘smacks of hypocrisy and double standards’.
Nana Akomea explained that, the NDC man [Adams] was suspended from his party because in 2012 he vowed to ensure Akufo-Addo wins elections.
“Why is Kofi Adams calling Nana Akufo-Addo a warmonger when he was heard on tape saying he will do everything in his power to make him win the 2012 elections” he stated.
Nana Akomea however said he understands Kofi Adams’ frustration because he knows the NDC has lost the elections.
