A driver, said to be working with Engineers and Planners and identified as William Boamah, has reportedly been shot dead by armed robbers on the Tamale-Salaga road in the Northern Region.
The shooting was said to have happened at about 7:00pm Thursday while the deceased and others were returning from Tamale.
One of the persons who survived the shooting and gave his name as Kelle claimed the incident happened between Kpalbisi and Jidanturu just on the rough section of the road.
According to him, when they got to that stretch of the road they, the saw two people holding torchlight, noting suspected robbers did not stop them and before they could realise anything, they heard gunshots.
“I didn’t stop. I kept moving further until we got to Walantu when we realised that the gunshot had hit him (Boamah). His head was hit and was dead. We drove to the Police before we took him back to Tamale to be placed in a morgue,” Kelle narrated. The police patrol team in the area was said to have left there at the time.
According to reports, which 3News cannot independently verify, when the body was taken to the Police station, the officers there at the time were said to entertaining themselves; something that got the youth angry resulting in a misunderstanding.
