One person has been confirmed dead and two others including a police officer sustained gunshot wounds after a robbery attack at Wulugu in near Walewale in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern region.
The police officer according to information gathered by mynewsgh.com was escorting a distribution truck belonging to Lesken Enterprise sole distributers of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) in parts of Northern, Upper East and West regions when they were attacked by the robbers numbering four.
According to police in the area, the truck after making some distributions to clients in and around Walewale was returning to Bolgatanga at about 5pm Monday evening when it was attacked leading to the death of the cashier and the injury of the driver and policeman onboard.
The escort is reported to have engaged the bandits in a shootout but run out of ammunition in his loaded magazine as they progressed towards the vehicle from their hideout.
It has also been confirmed that the robbers made away with unspecified amount of money being sales accrued from the distribution on Monday, March 27, 2017.
The body of the deceased person has been deposited at the Bolgantanga Regional Hospital morgue while the injured are on admission receiving treatment at the same facility.
