One person is feared dead and about four are in critical condition after three vehicles collided head-on in front of the Our lady of Fatima Catholic Basic School at Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.
The accident which occurred Thursday evening at exactly 8:25 involved a taxi cab with registration number GW 4546 R.
The second vehicle had a DV number plate and the third one is a Toyota Camry with no identification.
The driver of the taxi cab got stuck in his mangled car for over 30 minutes as town folks tried hard to cut portions of the vehicle to get him out.
The only two police men on duty could hardly help as they struggled to control the traffic jam caused by the accident.
Three non-uniformed men later joined the officers to help.
The other four victims were rushed to the Atua Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
A teacher of Our lady of Fatima Catholic School, Isaac Sogbadzi, said pupils were at preps when he heard screeching tyres, followed by a bang which turned out to be the accident 50 metres away from the school.
