ORGANISATION Mondiale pour I’Education Prescolaire (OMEP) Ghana has launched its 8th Africa Regional Conference with a call on civil society to defend and promote the right of children in Accra.
The three-day conference, which is on the theme: “Transforming and Strengthening ECED Systems for Sustainable Development in Africa,” is slated for April 19-21, 2017 at Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.
Addressing the media at the launch on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, President of OMEP, Mrs. Nyamikeh Kyiamah, opined that her outfit in the past years has been embarking on a number of activities which promote access to quality early childhood education and care.
Mrs. Kyiamah hinted that the conference will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities among others.
The president of OMEP reiterated that all the speakers billed for the conference will focus and address their topics with cogent arguments on issues raised in their presentations, support them with evidence based researches, interventions and offer possible solutions to problems catalogue.
Mrs. Kyiamah explained that the conference will draw participants across Africa with special emphasis on those from Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and Ghana.
“We call on participants like early childhood educators, proprietors of private schools, parents, social workers, nurses, paediatricians and child minders to register early to avoid rush,” she added.
The president of OMEP emphasised that after the conference, a communiqué which will encapsulate all the pragmatic issues affecting early childhood education and Development (ECED) in Africa will be adopted by the various OMEP National Committees for its implementation.
She promised that her outfit will support the implementation of the five-year strategic plan of the ‘Scaling-up KG education in Ghana’ document developed by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
