The members of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association are set to hit the streets tomorrow to protest government’s posture in resolving their concerns as trainees.
The demonstration is aimed at bringing to the doorstep of government the demand of certain allowances of trainee nurses and midwives due them and concerns over employment of all qualified nurses and midwives.
The demonstration was earlier slated for Monday, September 19, but the Police denied them permission to embark on their protest.
In an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, the President of the Association, Akazee Godwin Asabire, said they have now been cleared to go ahead with the planned demonstration.
“Although it was supposed to come on 19, September, the Police did not give us the permission, but now we’ve gotten the permit and we are now granted to have our demonstration. The demonstration is coming on tomorrow, Thursday, 22 September 2016. We are converging at Circle-Obra Spot in the morning 8:00 am and later meet the Chief of Staff to take our petition, “he said.
