According to Nana B, agric graduates will be in charge of the farms.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) Henry Nana Boakye popularly called ‘Nana B’, has hinted that the NSS in collaboration with the ministry of Agriculture will create one-district-one- farm where over hundred thousand service personnel will be deployed.
According to him, graduates who offered various agricultural courses at the tertiary level will be in charge of the farms as part of their services to the nation.
He said the NSS will be a backbone of Nana Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government saying they are repositioning the NSS to support the agenda of the government.
The Deputy Executive director of NSS indicated that the NSS will liaise with traditional rulers in targeted farming districts to acquire lands for the farming.
He added that the service has lots of farms in areas such as Ashanti region, West Legon, Komenda, Nungua, Dawayen and other places which will be harnessed.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, he explained that the move will create employment for the teeming unemployed youth in the country.
‘We have written a proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture to create one -district-one-farm where national service personnel will be deployed,’ he disclosed.
Nana B indicated that the service is not only good at deploying service personnel to institutions in towns and villages but have plans to push the economy of the country.
He assured that the water bottling plant will be revamped.
