The National Service Secretariat has released placements for 70,407 prospective national service personnel for the 2016/2017 service year.
The service personnel who have been deployed to both the private and public sectors are from 137 tertiary institutions across the country as well as those who have completed their studies abroad, a statement signed and released on Monday by the acting Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte said.
According to the statement, the early release of the postings is to afford prospective service personnel sufficient time to prepare before they take up their postings in September, 2016.
“It is also to offer user agencies sufficient time to organize in-service orientation and training programmes for service personnel posted to their outfits, to adequately prepare them both physically and psychologically to take up the challenges as they transit from school life into the world of work,” the statement said.
The statement adviced all prospective national service personnel to visit the Scheme’s website by logging onto www.nss.gov.gh to check their placements.
It said registration would begin from Monday, July 11, 2016 to Friday, August 26, 2016 at all national service regional offices across the country and that service personnel would be expected to start work at the various posts from Thursday, September 1, 2016.
According to the statement, management of the national service scheme would not encourage change of postings; and therefore urged all prospective national service personnel to be prepared to accept their placements as part of their civic responsibilities and contributions towards building a prosperous nation.
