The National Service Secretariat has denied withholding allowances of personnel for December 2016 and January 2017.
The secretariat, reacting to rumours in sections of the media that it will withhold allowances for December and January, said it will duly pay all personnel on time without delay.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr., the secretariat said the government has already released funds for the payment of all personnel till the end of December 2016, and has also approved its budget for the year 2017.
It therefore called on service personnel to “go about their normal duties and should not allow themselves to be deceived through such mischievous publications.”
The Management of the National Service Scheme wishes to advise all National Service Personnel and the general public to ignore the false publication circulating on social media that personnel allowances for December 2016 and January 2017 will be withheld.
As indicated in one of our previous statements, the government has already released funds for payment of personnel allowances up to the year ending December 2016 and has also approved our budget for the year 2017.
Service personnel are therefore encouraged to go about their normal duties and should not allow themselves to be deceived through such mischievous publications.
