By Maxwell Okamafo Addo
After the unprecedented shift of the date of the NPP manifesto launch with so many changes including allegations of stealing the NPP manifesto by the NDC, many Ghanaian are highly expectant.
But the question is, why former President Kuffour leading the NPP manifesto launch and not the flag bearer of the NPP Nana Akuffo Addo. Like what President Mahama did in Cape Coast during the NDC manifesto launch.
Ghanaians ask is President Kuffour the presidential candidate of the NPP or is he going to be cabinet member or a gray eminence controlling the party from his Airport Residence.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed it will launch its manifesto on October 9, 2016 at Trade Fair in the Greater Accra Region.
This is being hurriedly done to produce an agenda and manifesto for their campaign after the Vice President Kwesi Amissah -Arthur criticized them for not having an agenda or manifesto, ahead of the National 2016 election, at the Asawase where he launched Hon Mohammed Muntakas Campaign Task Force.
Before Asawase ,the Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discount the opposition NPP Presidential candidate for the December 7th elections Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo since has no track records to show.
He made the statement at the campaign launch of NDC’s Parliamentary candidate Mr. Cris Boadi in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti region on Saturday.
He said the NDC took over for the NPP because of its performance during the former President Kuffours reign. Adding that even with President Kuffour’s track record that Nana Addo seeks to ride on and is campaigning with it. He is sacking all the Kuffour men in the NPP so what record is he riding on, he asked.
These two separate statements made by the Vice President in Asuadei in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti region on Saturday and the Asawase one on Sunday according sources in the NPP is seen as a fact and mockery to the party and that they must accept it in good faith what the Vice President. And also begging former President Kufuor to lead NPP manifesto launch at Trade Fair
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed it will launch its manifesto on October 9, 2016 at Trade Fair in the Greater Accra Region. The initial venue was the Tamale Sports Stadium, where the NPP held its national delegates congress.but they later changed it.
They say “The launch of the manifesto, which contains the solutions Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party propose to help fix the myriad of problems facing the country, including how to resolve like the NDC with the highlight of tit Manifesto launch the NPP is copying it “ with a stakeholder briefing of the manifesto to Civil Society and Identifiable Groups, Embassies and Diplomatic Missions and Political Parties at the Unique Events Palace, Trade Fair Center at 12pm prompt”.
So far, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) In September, led by President John Mahama launched the NDC 2016 manifesto at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, in front of thousands of party supporters from across the country ahead of the polls in December.
As I said the campaigning test of the untried leader, who has been the frontrunning Opposition Leader in the country has been checked as the slow-starting Flag bearer of the NPP Nana Akuffo Addo demonstrates how his leadership would be in his own party.
The Vice president in Asawase in Ashanti Region said the NPP which has not launched its campaign and manifesto is rather accusing the NDC of stealing their manifesto and peddling untruth.
So has called on party supporters to police the polls and be vigilant on Election Day to win them a second term of office. “We must police the polls, we must make sure we are vigilant and that everything is done according to the rules.
Adressing hundreds of party supporters in the Asawase constituency of the Ashanti Region who defied the persistent heavy downpour in the area to welcome him to grace the launch of the NDCs Member of Parliament for the area Hon Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak’s Campaign Launch yesterday.
Vice President Kwesi Amissah -Arthur admonished party supporters to continue in their ‘focus, the determination, the perseverance and the singleness of purpose with which we have pursued the campaign. He also called on party supporters to be wary of the NPP because of their attitude of puling surprises.
He called on the NDC party supporters to ignore the accusations of the NPP and urged them to focus their energies in ensuring a resounding victory for President John Mahama for continuity in the December 2016 elections.
He said first under President John Dramani Mahama the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) NDC have officially launched the campaign for the 2016 election at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central region on Sunday, August 14, 2016. They haven’t.
Secondly under President John Dramani Mahama the National Democratic Congress’ has launched it manifesto ahead of the 2016 general elections. The President launched the manifesto in Sunyani they haven’t.
But rather the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the manifesto highlight by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) was replete with its ideas. And that the NDC lead by its General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia has stolen their Manifesto.
