NPP’s First Budget Will Address Zongo Dev’t – Akufo-Addo

The first budget of an Akufo-Addo presidency will provide funds for the development of Zongo communities to help accelerate development in such predominantly Muslim settlements across the country, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said.

Nana Akufo-Addo denied allegations that the NPP was against Muslims and persons living in Zongo communities. Instead, he said the party would establish the Zongo Development Fund to support them.

Mr Akufo-Addo made this known at a rally in Nima on Tuesday October 11 in the Ayawaso North constituency.

He pleaded with the Muslim community to support his bid to become president in the December polls and described as lies and propaganda assertions that a future Akufo-Addo government would drive away Muslims from the country.

“I’m here to plead with you to give me the chance on December 7. In 2008, I failed to become president; the same happened in 2012. This is the third time and I‘m asking that you help me become president of Ghana and once I’m there we are going to implement policies that will create jobs and bring money into your pockets,” Nana Akufo-Addo told the gathering.

“The NPP has enough policies for the betterment of the Ghanaian… Anytime funds are created, the Zongos are left behind but the first budget of the Akufo-Addo presidency will provide capital for the Zongo Development Fund to support the Zongos… We in the NPP will work and create enough jobs for every Ghanaian.”

He urged the constituents to vote for the NPP’s parliamentary aspirant for the constituency, Peter Mireku, to help bring development to the area.
