The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win a record ninety percent of valid votes that will be cast in the Ashanti region in the 2016 elections, the regional chairman of the party has predicted.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme Thursday that, the party will also win all the forty seven Parliamentary seats in the region.
“Mark my words, we will win 90% of the votes in this region and also when it comes to the Parliamentary seats, we would sweep all of them…,” he said.
The Ashanti Region has been the stronghold of the largest opposition party since the country returned to constitutional rule. However the party’s fortunes have been dwindling in recent elections.
But Chairman Wontumi insists he would work not increase the fortunes of the party in the upcoming elections.
This determination, former Ejisu-Juaben MCE, Afrifa Yamoah-Ponkoh said would only be a day-dream as the NDC is poised to win more than a million votes in the region.
He added that the party would also win at least four seats.
