Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho claims the Volta regional executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are ripping their flagbearer off with “phantom endorsements”.
He alleged that, the party’s Regional Chairman, John Peter Amewu and a communication team member, Pius Enam Hadzide connived with certain unknown chiefs from the Volta region to endorse Nana Akufo-Addo just for money.
Koku Anyidoho made the allegation while reacting to the reported endorsement of the NPP leader by 57 chiefs comprising five Paramount Chiefs and 52 sub-chiefs in the Volta region.
Led by Nana Obonbo Sewura Lipuwura II, Paramount Chief of Nkwanta Akyode Traditional Area, the traditional leaders stated that they have had the opportunity to witness governance under the NPP and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the last 16 years, and are under no illusion that a government led by the NPP represents Ghana’s best hope of offering her citizens progress and prosperity.
But Koku Anyidoho on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday said the impression being created by the NPP in the region is not the true situation on the ground.
He claimed majority of the chiefs doing the supposed endorsements are not known in any paramouncy in the Volta region.
“Peter Amewu and Pius are small boys; they are just raising the hopes of Akufo-Addo so that their ‘Ghana must go’ bag will be heavy when they come to Accra. They are just deceiving him” Mr. Anyidoho declared.
The NDC deputy scribe was certain the Volta region will never bow to the NPP given the many infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Mahama-led government.
“NPP cannot win any seat in the Volta region; it shall forever remain the world bank of the NDC” he stated.
Koku Anyidoho urged the NPP not to be deluded into thinking that the warm reception accorded them in the region will translate into votes in the December 7 general elections.
