Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has rubbished the opposition NPP’s promise in the education sector in their recently launched manifesto.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa accused the NPP of attempting to derail President Mahama’s technical university concept.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa who was speaking last week at the party’s ‘Setting the Record Straight’ indicated that the NPP wanted to use the technical universities as a frontier of their one-district-one-factory policy; an act he stated would undermine the tertiary education concept.
He described the factories promised by the NPP in every district as ‘dog and cat factories’.
‘’They want to destroy the technical university concept. This is an international concept, it’s the highest upgrade of technical education at the tertiary level. It is not a matter of partisan jokes…. Depending on which NPP member you’re talking about, if you talk to Anthony Karbo he says that it’s a dog meat factory which can do very well.
“Pius Hadzide also said there can be a cat meat industry in the Volta region which some of us take exception to because it has brought us tremendous opprobrium….. All the NPP could say about the technical university concept is that they should go and be at the forefront of one-district-one-factory, cat factories and dog factories, that is what our technical universities should be doing?’’
