Some persons within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are plotting to have Kennedy Agyapong assassinated, the Assin Central Member of Parliament claims.
According to him, some members of the party are not happy about how he tackles issues regarding the party and have subsequently planned to end his life.
“Yesterday, some members of NPP were at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down saying they will kill me. They said they have taken notice of my car numbers,” he said on UTV.
The vociferous MP however stated that the threats on his life can never cause him to succumb to the wishes of those who want him dead adding that, he has remained calm due to the level of respect he accords the President of the land, Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I’m waiting for them. In June, they were begging me because they were broke; today, you want to kill me? I’m ready for them. If they dare me, I would bring the party down. I’m being economical with some statements for Nana AKufo-Addo’s sake. They would have seen how I would strip them naked. But I respect Nana Addo and I have promised not to demean him. I would have responded to their folly accordingly,” he noted.
Mr Agyapong’s comment comes in the wake of a ‘prison break’ by some 13 members of Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group who were standing trial.
Some members of the group on Thursday stormed a Kumasi Circuit Court to free 13 of their members who were facing charges for raiding the Regional Coordinating Council on March 24, 2017, and assaulting Mr Adjei who had just been appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.
The legislator who earlier threatened to embark on demonstration if members of the Delta Force were arrested by law enforcement agencies said he drew the attention of the NPP hierarchy to solve the issue amicably instead of arraigning them before court.
He would however not defend the decision of the other members to storm the court.
“They have gone overboard; they cannot take the law into their hands. I am not going to support them again. I am appealing to them to surrender and go and do their time on remand in prison custody. I am a truthful person and don’t tolerate nonsense. I’m not going to support them again. This is a jail break which cannot be condoned in the government of Nana Akufo-Addo, who is law abiding,” Mr Agyapong noted.
