The odds favour the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2016 elections, a former Minister of Trade and Industry claims.
Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, who served under the erstwhile John Kufuor administration, said although the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition is favourite going into the 7th poll of the Fourth Republic, its members must eschew complacency and “be meticulous”.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Wednesday, the former Member of Parliament for Offinso called on supporters of the NPP to remain vigilant at the polling station to safeguard their votes.
“We have an excellent chance to win this election,” the former Minister of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD said on Starr 103.5 FM.
According to him, “all the elements are in place and we have to be meticulous” ahead of the elections. “We have to be meticulous at the polling station,” Dr. Apraku emphasised.
For him, the NPP presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been marketed well over the years, and will be unfortunate for him to lose for the third time running.
“Right now a lot of people know Akufo-Addo. He has been around and we have an excellent chance to win. We must not relax and be so presumptuous. We have to work as if we have lost the election,” Dr Apraku cautioned.
He said he has a cordial relationship with Nana Addo and has been working behind the scenes to aid his campaign.
