According to Mahama, NPP can’t catch up with them because they are winning the election with the speed of Usain Bolt…
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Dramani Mahama, has likened himself to the Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt. According to him, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is lagging behind just like is always the case with Usain Bolt’s co-runners in every competition. He said that it is late for the NPP to catch up with them because they are already taking the lead in the race for the presidency.

The President made these statements on Saturday, the first day of his 4-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region. Addressing Chiefs and party supporters at a durbar at Adansi Apagya in the New Edubiase Constituency, Mahama confidently said that the NPP can’t catch up with them in the race because they have already won.
“There’s an athlete called Usain Bolt. He is the fastest runner alive. Whenever he takes the lead in a 100 meter race, he turns to look at those lagging behind him and whistles. That is to tell the NPP that the race has already been won. We are already in the lead so it is too late for them to catch up,” he said.

Reacting to Mahama’s confidence that the NDC will win in the polls, Okofo Sobin Kai II, the Chief of Dompoase advised the President to accept the election results in good faith even if it fails to be what he has predicted.
According to the Chief, what they desire so much is a peaceful co-existence after the polls. He pleaded on behalf of his fellow traditional rulers that President Mahama accepts the result of the elections no matter whom it favours. This according to him, is to ensure that the peace which is being enjoyed in the nation is maintained.
Okofo Sobin Kai II emphasized that God has already chosen a leader who will emerge victorious after the elections; and this is the main reason why everyone should accept the outcome, including the losers.
President Mahama is expected to commission the Asokore Mampong Community Day Senior High School today, Monday, November 7.
