ABUJA — The Nigerian police have confirmed nine deaths were recorded following a clash between policemen and the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites sect, in the northwestern state of Kano on Monday.

SARIPUL — A total of nine Taliban militants including two main commanders have been killed and 15 others injured in the northern Saripul province on Tuesday, provincial governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat said.
“Taliban militants launched coordinated attacks on the southern part of provincial capital Saripul city early today morning but fled away after suffering casualties and leaving nine dead bodies including two key commanders Gul Hamid and Mabariz behind,” Wahdat told reporters here. CAIRO — An Egyptian court on Tuesday overturned a death sentence against ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi and ordered a retrial in a mass jailbreak during the 2011 uprising, official news agency MENA reported.
The Court of Cassation, Egypt’s highest degree court, ordered that Morsi and five co-defendants, including the supreme guide of the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, will also be retried. (Egypt-Morsi-Retrial) Enditem
