Former Trade and Industry Minister under President John Mahama has hinted of another attempt at the presidency in the run in to the 2020 elections.
The elections may be far from now, but Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah seems to have subtly dropped hint of running for the party’s flag bearer contest again after a failed 2006 attempt.
The astute politician has been touting his political future in a much more indirect manner while granting radio interviews.
The 63-year-old former minister revealed age will never stop him from contesting the 2020 elections.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah said “if you are talking about age, then I think people will want to see what the average age of a president in Africa or a president around the world is.”
”Some people think that a person who is 66 will be too old to run for president, there’ll be people who’ll think that way, there will be others who will say but we just had a 73-year-old man become president of Ghana.”
It remains unclear who leads the opposition NDC in 2020 as former president Mahama is yet to announce his political future while some stalwarts of the NDC are busily setting up campaign offices and sponsoring individuals to occupy executive positions in the party in readiness for their presidential ambitions.
