The 26-year-old who became West Ham United’s expensive signing of summer 2016 was made to come up with his best XI in an interview with the club’s media channel.
A cursory look at the list shows his African bias but conspicuously missing in the set-up is at least the name of any of his compatriots at the Ghana national team. Perhaps, it underlines he does not rate them that high after training and playing in games together.
He picks 7 African players including 35-year-old striker Samuel Eto’o who will lead attack with Gabon’s Aubameyang just behind him.
Andre Ayew said he prefers a 4-4-2 formation with German shot-stopper Manuel Neuer in post.
The list also includes reigning world best player Cristiano Ronaldo and two Real Madrid mates Marcelo and Modric. Interestingly, Barcelona and Argentina’s Lionel Messi misses out?
