The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has dismissed reports that a car in the convoy of its Presidential Candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom knocked and killed three persons in Salaga in the Northern Region Wednesday.
The media has reported that a campaign vehicle belonging to PPP has been involved in a deadly accident.
The report said the Nissan Pick-up car with registration number GT 2926 – 12 reportedly knocked down three Fulanis on a motorbike heading towards Gunjai from Salaga North in the East Gonja district.
The three Fulanis died on the spot while a child who was travelling with them suffered severe injuries and has been rushed to the Hospital for treatment.
The pickup was said to be heading to the grounds where flagbearer of PPP, Dr. Nduom is expected to hold a rally later in the day .
He addressed a rally at Tatale and was expected in Salaga Wednesday before the accident occurred.
However, the PPP in a statement said though the party is saddened by the unfortunate incident, the accident didn’t involve Dr Nduom’s convoy.
Below is the full statement
The Progressive People’s Party is very much distraught about the death of three of our party supporters in Salaga in the Northern Region.
The enthusiastic youth were on their way to attend a rally at Salaga.
We however wish to dispel the rumour that the said accident involved Dr Nduom’s convoy.
Meanwhile, Dr Nduom will be meeting the families of the deceased to commiserate with them and discuss any other issue that will follow.
