The construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle interchange will increase property rate and value of lands in the area, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Inusah Fuseini has said. “What has happened at Circle will increase the property rate and the value of lands in that area. Indeed it will capitalize the transformation of the area from low lying buildings to high rise buildings.
That is the transformational agenda,” the Minister told Citi Breakfast Show host, Bernard Avle.
President John Dramani Mahama on Monday inaugurated the 74 million euro project which has three flyovers, Fire Service, ambulance stations as well as a bus terminal. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Mr. Fuseini further stated that additional features such as the statue, the dancing fountain and the lights add beauty to the interchange.
“Generations yet to be born will be told about the Kwame Nkrumah Circle; that they now have an opportunity to see the Kwame Nkrumah Circle at that area. They will be told that once upon a time that Kwame Nkrumah Circle was policed by one Amankwah to keep discipline and order but today that Circle has a fountain and not only a fountain, a dancing fountain, a fountain that responds to music. ”
They will be told that once upon a time where the fountain stood was the Obra square but today that is not the Obra square, that is the place where people can relax. They will be told that all that we call …niceties were part of the construction of the interchange.”
Cost of project wasn’t bloated
Some critics have compared what government says is the longest flyer over in West Africa, to the cost of the yet to-be constructed Pokuase interchange. But speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Inusah Fuseini dismissed these claims , saying various factors are often considered for such projects. “In the construction industry, it depends on the geography of the area, it depends on the property impact assessment of the area. It depends on the economic activities of the area. It depends on the economic activities of the area. “It depends on the nature of the area, it depends on the proximity of the area. Those are the factors that will determine the cost of the project… When you are interrogating the cost, it is always good to look at the cost build up but if you look at the amount, it can be misleading because of the number of things that go into it.” – See more at: http://citifmonline.com/2016/11/15/nkrumah-circle-interchange-will-increase-value-of-lands-minister/#sthash.0GWEw2za.dpuf
