Amaju Pinnick, the country’s FA chief, who spoke to the team shortly before their departure urged them to build on their past record.
“We are totally behind you and we cherish you. We are always proud about all you have achieved which remains a record in Africa. So, we are hopeful that you will remain the champions of Africa after the finals in Cameroon,” Pinnick said.
Nigeria’s contingent to the tournament, scheduled to hold between Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, is made up of 21 players and official.
The Nigerian team, also known as Super Falcons, will play in Group B with Ghana, Mali and first-timer Kenya. Enditem
