The new acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, has made significant changes at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service, a unit he once headed.
The current Director-General of the CID, COP Prosper Agblor, has been moved to head the Special Duties Department as the Director General, and his Deputy, ACP Dennis Ako-Dem, has also been moved to the Special Duties Department.
DCOP Bright Oduro, who is the Director General;Welfare, has now been appointed Director General of the CID.
ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, who previously headed the police command and staff college, and moved to the ministries divisional police command, and finally at PIPS within a space of seven months, has now been appointed second in command at the CID.
Sources close to the situation have further hinted that, more postings and reshuffling of senior police officers should be expected in the coming days.
Akufo-Addo names COP Asante-Apeatu as new IGP
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday January 25, named COP David Asante-Apeatu as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The former IGP, John Kudalor earlier today (Wednesday), went to the Flagstaff House to bid the president farewell having officially retired from the service.
Mr. Kudalor was appointed by former President, John Dramani Mahama to the position in an acting capacity in November 2015.
He was later confirmed IGP in February 2016.
The appointment of IGP has been political since independence. A substantive IGP will named subsequently by the President in consultation with the Council of State.
